Bare-Metal (OS-Free)

For extreme security, Hierophant supports Bare-Metal (OS-Free) deployment on dedicated microcontrollers, minimizing attack surfaces. GetTrusted provides hardware like standalone messengers and LoRa/WiFi boards.

This OS-free deployment model is designed for scenarios where the attack surface must be minimized to an absolute extreme, such as in highly sensitive government, military, or critical infrastructure applications. By running directly on microcontrollers, Hierophant avoids the complexities and potential weaknesses of underlying operating systems, providing a truly hardened and dedicated secure communication environment.

Implementation

GetTrusted Escrow GmbH offers a wide range of bare-metal hardware with Hierophant Protocol.

The range includes standalone hardware messengers with basic input mechanisms for streamlined, secure messaging in minimalist form factors.

For more interactive use, standalone hardware messengers equipped with keyboards are available, offering greater ease of use for composing and reading messages.

To support diverse connectivity needs, GetTrusted provides boards featuring integrated LoRa and WiFi modules, enabling these bare-metal Hierophant nodes to communicate over long-range radio or standard wireless networks.

For enhancing network anonymity and resisting traffic analysis, dedicated hardware proxies for objects re-encryption are offered, which can run Hierophant's relaying and obfuscation logic directly on microcontrollers.

Furthermore, external encryption modules, connectable via USB to telephones and laptops, allow existing devices to offload Hierophant's cryptographic operations and key management to a secure, bare-metal hardware token, effectively creating a hardware-anchored security perimeter for software clients.
